It is Your Choice!

Life is full of choices and it is these choices that make up our lives. We are confronted by choices everyday and then knowingly or unknowing, we choose a path that will ultimately impact our life. It is the sum of our daily choices that equals our life’s experience. We must use our power of choice wisely and never treat the choices too lightly.

There is one main difference between the individuals who live a vibrant and overflowing life, compared to the individuals who merely live life waiting for it to happen. It is simply a matter of choice that separates the so called “living” from the “dead”. “Some people die at twenty-five and aren’t buried until they are seventy-five”. –Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

A common phrase in our society today is “I’m just going to go with the flow!” but even this is a choice in itself. There will be times when the best choice will be to “go with the flow”, and other times when we should paddle against the current. But what is important to remember is make an effort to pick the best choice for your life.

The most important choice that we will ever make in life is who or what are we going to choose to live our life for? In the Bible Joshua nearing the end of his life gave a farewell address to the children of Israel, in it he encouraged them to choose who they were going to live for.

“Now therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD! And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” Joshua 24:14-15

And then God Himself plainly tells us to choose the healthy choice, the choice of life:
“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days…” Deuteronomy 30:19-20a

Remember it is your life and it is your choice that determines the rest of your life, so choose wisely.
